This early emergent reader is the first in a growing set that will build and scaffold students’ reading and identifying high frequency words.
Book 1.A – “I See” - breakfast foods - Dolch Sight Words: I, see
Monday –In a shared group, introduce the sight words and vocabulary for the reader
Tuesday – Read the pocket chart and practice putting words in order
Wednesday – Read the guided reader with students and send home for additional practice.
Thursday – Students can make their own reader by filling in the sentence stem and illustrating each page
Friday – Assess with sentence dictation
Homework – Keep the reading going! Allows parents to see what students have learned in class.
4 levels of differentiation
1. Words and picture support, with tracking dots
2. Sentences with tracking dots, adding pictures
3. Sentence stem with blank for sight word and space to illustrate
4. Fill in entire sentence and illustrate
