I have used this for many years and the kids do not seem to tire playing it! I always laminate the letter boards so I can use them again and again. Before laminating, I note down as many words as I can generate on the back of the card as an easy guide for checking the words that the kids come up with. If they are playing as opponents, I designate a point system for the generated words. A 3-letter word is worth 3 points, 4- Letter word- 4 points, 5-letter- 5 points, etc. The students can share the card or use one with another vowel/digraph/blend sound (depending on what you may be working on). I just give them a sheet of paper and they are off! Using a timer can make it more exciting.
This can be differentiated for different learners.
Vowel Cards: A, E , I, O, U
Digraphs Cards: WH, TH, SH, CH
Blend Cards: STR, ST, CL, TR, DR
