This SMARTboard lesson is both a mini lesson and practice in measuring angles. It begins with basic concepts of what an angle is; how to measure angles in degrees; the difference between an acute angle, an obtuse angle, and a right angle. Then it moves to an interactive protractor tool that actually measures angles. It shows students how to line the angle up on the protractor and then move the interactive arm which gives it a step by step measurement. This can be used as teacher directed instruction and as a small group activity or as an independent center. Slides are all self checking in which students can view the correct answer with a click of the mouse. Created with Smart Notebook 11. Great for grades 4-6. I think the material in this lesson is especially beneficial for students that will need to be proficient in this skill to pass state testing.
