Students often have a hard time using a chart to organize their thinking. In this activity students roll dice to create a leprechaun (includes a boy and girl leprechaun sheet with choices for hair, eyes, mouth, tops, bottoms, and accessories). After students create their leprechaun, then they calculate the value of their leprechaun. (There are 5 different chart sheets to use and two versions of this activity. One version is where students have the values assigned to their leprechaun parts and a version where students get the value of money based on the number they roll on a dice). Finally they use a chart to organize 4 different ways to use coins to make the value of their created leprechaun.
