Students will learn about the nutritional information on food labels, evaluate nutritional

value of some food products, and assess the effectiveness of media sources on human health.

Success Criteria:

  • read and explain the nutritional value of a food product from its nutritional label
  • identify the sugar, sodium, and fibre contents of different brands of cereals
  • determine the healthy/ unhealthy aspects of a food product by reading nutritional labels
  • recognize some strategies marketing companies use to sell a product to the public

Suggestions for differentiation are also included so that all students can be successful in the learning environment.
