Do your kids love hands-on science? Are you looking for a way to spice up your unit on matter? This resource is made for you! I've used all of these materials in my own first grade classroom, and I'm happy to share them with you. All the resources in this unit align to enduring understandings about matter, including:
The world is made of matter.
Solids, liquids, and gases are the three main types of matter.
Solids have unique properties, including having their own shape, taking up space, and having mass.
Liquids fill a space, flow, have density, are visible, and have mass.
Gases fill a space, although we often don’t see them, and they have mass.
Matter changes state when temperature changes.
Physical reactions can be reversible.
Chemical reactions are not reversible and produce something new.
Some substances can be more than one state.
