Hi everyone!!! I'm so excited to share this set with you all!!! With a new reading series this week that has very high passages, I needed to find ways to practice the reading skills more at my students' levels. This set is just what I needed! Since we've never explicitly taught Author's Point of View in previous years, I wanted to break it down to build up a foundation for my kids to be successful with this skill. In this set, you will see that we start with facts and opinions. Let's face it...if they aren't able to identify and decipher facts from opinions, then analyzing a text for the author's point of view would be a little difficult. From there, we transition into short passages to identify the topic, author's point of view, text evidence, and their own opinion (agree or disagree).

There are TONS of resources included in the set along with recording sheets and answer keys for each activity!! The options are endless!!!

Included:
p. 3 What’s MY point? Rationale for set
pp. 4-6 Anchor Posters: Fact, Opinion, Author’s Point of View
pp. 7-11 Flip Flap Books: Fact/Opinion, Author’s Point of View
pp. 12-14 Interactive Notebook Pages (Fact/Opinion, Author’s Point of View)
pp. 15-17 Author’s Point of View Graphic Organizer (for any appropriate text)
pp. 18-35 Fact or Feeling (opinion)? Several Options for Use!
pp. 36-39 Connecting Facts & Opinions matching activity/assessment
pp. 40-53 Author’s Point of View Skill Practice (8 passages with organizer)
pp. 54-64 What’s the point? 12 passages with several options for use!
pp. 65-66 TOU and CREDITS!

This set has really helped my kids understand the author's point of view and use higher order thinking skills to dig deeper into the texts!!!!!
