Help students think about multiplication and division story problems (using basic facts). Each of these 24 task cards provides a story problem situation, but does not have the question. Students need to generate the question and solve each problem.
I found that often times my students just look for the numbers in story problems and multiply or divide without thinking about the meaning of the story problem or the numbers. When students have to generate their own questions, they have to think about what the numbers mean in the situation.
Since students generate their own questions, there are multiple ways that each problem could be solved.
You will love seeing your students thinking through these story problems in a whole new way!
