Help your students determine the size of their problem and teach them that their reaction should correspond to the size of the problem. Small problem? Small reaction! Not, small problem, BIG reaction!! This packet is designed for preschool through Grade 1 but could be used with older students who are experiencing big reactions to small problems. If using with non-readers, you will need to read the text in the activities to them.
This packet includes everything you need to teach your students how to determine the size of their problems including:
9 Page teaching story (color),
6 pages of perspective taking activities (fill in the thought bubbles, what are others thinking when our reaction is too big for the size of the problem?),
Three sorting mats (small, medium, or big problem?) and 20 sorting cards that are color-coded according to size of the problem,
A black and white mini story where students read/hear the problem and determine it's size, interactive: cut and glue. Great take-home activity!
Two pages of tiered black and white worksheets where students reflect upon a problem and how they reacted (one for non-readers and one for readers).
