This lesson incorporates language, vocabulary, spelling and math skills. Students will practice speaking, reading, spelling and using various coins/bills in this lesson.

The use of money is a problem-solving skill that requires several mathematical processes when applied to real-world situations. This lesson allows students to strengthen individual skill areas. Students will learn to recognize coins and the values of coins and bills. They will also practice selecting specific money amounts and calculating costs.

Students can use a “Word Worth” Worksheet based on their current ability Each letter of the Alphabet is assigned a coin. Students will use the Worksheet to find the value or “worth of 5-10 vocabulary/spelling words. They match each letter to a coin and total the cost of the word.
