Proven successful strategies I have used in my K - 5th grade classrooms for 28 years with students who have autism running the spectrum. I also have used these strategies with my older son who has moderate autism and is now a successful college student living independently. Implementation of the strategies are described accompanied by a personal story or additional resources and Pinterest boards bursting with interventions and ideas for creating a classroom culture of acceptance and inclusion. This is a resource designed for elementary teachers to use in their classrooms easily and without a lot of expense or time-intensive material development. Over the years I have learned so much from the many marvelous students I had the privilege of teaching and from my own son. This is a compilation of 28 years of experiences and 2 years of rewrites to condense the information into a usable and friendly format of a quick read. Teachers don't have infinite time to plan or read copious amounts of material or research. What teachers do in the classroom every day makes them super heroes in my eyes. I just hung up my cape to become my son's life coach for college and independent living. Bless the teachers of our future leaders and future generations!
