Product Description
I love to hear the answers to this simple question that I asked my first graders every year. “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Recently I asked my granddaughter what she wanted to be when she grew up and she answered immediately, “ I want to be a nail salon technician!”

Their answers can be so innocent and honest at 5 or 6 years old! I have had firemen, vets, doctors, policemen, race car drivers, fashion models, singers, hairdressers and more.

What is even better is the presentation we would put on for parents or significant family members.

Here is what we did:

⭐We read books about different jobs or occupations or used the power point presentation with this resource about various jobs. You can use both or more to research jobs.

⭐After the children decided what they wanted to be when they grow up, they would either fill in the booklet or writing frame to direct their writing about their chosen job.

⭐We then prepared to have a “Job Day” celebration. We would invite parents and grandparents or significant family members to join us in our classroom to celebrate.

⭐The children would dress up as their chosen profession and read their report to their audience.

⭐We then played Job Charades and children volunteered to act out a given occupation for others to guess.

⭐We served some simple refreshments provided by Homeroom moms or room moms.

⭐The excitement and fun was evident in everyone’s face. Parents were proud. Children were excited after practicing so hard to read their writing with inflection and expression!

⭐It was great for practicing fluency and writing to read! My first graders LOVED this project.

Here is what is Included in this resource:

❤️A 38 page “Book” in Power Point format about various jobs that correlates to the writing frames included.
❤️28 Charade cards for your use.
❤️A 6 page booklet to use for students to write about their job.
❤️A one page writing frame. These frames can be used to differentiate your learning.
❤️Ideas for a Job Day Celebration as stated above.
