This is a Japanese animated version of a book written by British author, Joan Robinson in 1967 of the same title. An interesting weaving of the British and the Japanese cultures will be seen by the viewer as they embark on the journey of a 12 year old girl, named Anna who hates herself. She finds life difficult and travels to a more remote location and discovers family history facts about her past that help her overcome the feelings of abandonment. She is able to love once again and her art helps her on this journey of mystical fog.
