Description

"When Miles Got Mad" by Abbie Schiller and Samantha Counter is my ALL-TIME FAVORITE book for teaching anger coping strategies to children. I love using this story and these materials to teach students how to identify their anger triggers and choose and practice calm down strategies that are effective and meaningful for them.

THIS RESOURCE INCLUDES:

  • Engaging clickable PowerPoint presentation that summarizes the story, describes the physical signs of anger and calm, reviews 6 common anger triggers, teaches 13 calm down strategies, provides opportunities for turn and talk, and teaches a catchy calm down chant!
  • Calm down book that includes a color, cut, and paste activity for identifying anger triggers and exploring calm down strategies as well as other helpful activity sheets for processing and reflection. Boy and girl versions included!
  • Coping with anger coloring sheets for the little ones!
  • Aligned to ASCA National Standards

* I recommend having a hard copy of the story When Miles Got Mad to read aloud to students before teaching this lesson.
