This game is aligned to the common core standards! It targets nonsense words and articulation of the following sounds: /s/, /r/, /l/, /sh/, /ch/, and /th/. This game can be used for speech therapy, small group instruction, and literacy centers.
This unit includes 72 cards that target nonsense words and the following articulation sounds: /s/, /r/, /l/, /sh/, /ch/, and /th/.
Lay all the cards in a pile face down in the middle of the table. Choose a player to go first. The student then draws a card from the top of the pile. The student reads the nonsense word on the card. If the student is also working on articulation skills make sure they correctly produce their target sound(s) when reading the word. If the student reads the word correctly they get to keep the card. There are 24 head cards, 24 body cards, and 24 tail cards. Play continues until all cards have been drawn. The student who completes the most pigs (head, body, and tail) wins.
