Before reading the book to your students, preview the new vocabulary. Either in whole group or in think, pair, share, have your students discuss the meanings of the words. After reading the story two or three times over the course of the week and reviewing vocabulary, have your students complete the vocabulary activity independently. There are two different leveled activities to meet your students' needs. When the students have completed their activity, have them share it with you and explain their illustration and/or writing in further detail.
