Product Description
Ever find that your students spend more energy focusing on finishing their copy of the notes rather than learning the material at hand?

I DO. It drove me nuts. I decided to give it my best shot at finding the solution. I found that all of my learners, whether they be SPED, ELL, GATE, resource, etc., really benefitted from the CLOZE style of notes where they could remain attentive and listen for keywords at the same time. I even noticed that their engagement was such that they attempted to guess how to fill in the blanks before I even started the lesson!

In preparation for coordinating the ESL program at my middle school, I've put together a grammar unit that addresses the basics of English grammar. It includes parts of speech, but also common grammatical errors, such as capitalization, punctuation, and confusion between words like "to, two, and too." They're in the format of CLOZE Notes, as well as practice problems to use after the lesson. I've seen these notes work successfully in interactive journals and can be something the students work with for one day, or little by little throughout a week's time!

Along with the ESL class, I also teach sixth grade and have used these worksheets with them, as well. My sixth graders usually have been exposed to the concepts, but need the refresher! These work really well for that purpose exactly. That said, they may work appropriately for younger grades (3-5), but also as review for 7th and 8th graders, as well.

Hope you find them useful. :)
