This novel unit for When the Legends Die by Hal Borland is a great resource to use with discussions about heritage, diversity, inclusion, and respect for various cultures. The middle school novel unit also provides opportunities to introduce and analyze symbols, theme, author's tone, and author's style on a deeper level.
The literature resource is low prep with many reading activity options from which to choose.
