Looking to teach your students where they are in the world? Do they struggle identifying the relationship between their street, town, country, and state?
This thematic unit, designed based upon the principals learned through the Landmark Outreach Program for students with Language Based Learning Disabilities, focuses on teaching students about where they are in the world in a supportive and language-friendly format.
Students are able to practice parts of speech including nouns and adjectives, learn about their community, and generate an opinion writing assignment using a scaffolded approach.
This zip file download includes:
**Where Am I in the World Thematic Unit: Picture Supported!
** Lesson Plans with Common Core standards and plans for two weeks.
** A bonus file that includes a project called "Me On the Map" where students can write about where they live and see how their street is inside their town, which is inside their state, which is inside their country.
My students LOVED this unit and it was evident that they learned so much! This unit is easily personalized!
