Many students, and even adults, have a difficult time determining how to adequately punctuate and identify singular and plural possessive nouns. Sometimes, students automatically add an apostrophe to words just because they end in s. These 40 task cards provide students concrete practice so they can improve their understanding of this important skill. Each card has a sentence that is grammatically incorrect because of a missing apostrophe. Under this sentence are two sentences. Students must choose which of the two has the apostrophe in the correct place.
Students could work on these task cards independently, with partners, or in literacy centers.
