5 Pages. (and an added mp4 video file of the song)
Best for grades 2-5.
Where do ideas come from? How do inventors invent? What stirs creativity? When does inspiration occur? Why are original ideas awesome? These are fun things to think about.
Here is a little poem that asks this sort of question. The poem is followed by 7 questions that encourage each student to dig a bit more deeply into the idea of creativity, and then an opportunity to draw an imaginative picture. These imaginative pictures, along with other pictures we found of laboratories, carpenter workshops, graphic design studios, and countless other creative places beautifully filled a bulletin board under the heading, "Where do ideas start?"
Also included as an extra item, is an mp4 video file to the original song, "Where Does An Idea Start?" This song is a musical setting of the above poem. With this mp4 video file, One Arts Infusion Collaborative has created a way for classroom teachers, utilizing their computers or smartboards, to sing with their students about creativity, innovation, and where exactly a novel, unique idea originates. I wrote this song to accompany a study of the creative genius of American architect, Frank Lloyd Wright.
