Product Description
This is a small group reader's theater is for 4 students. This ties science into reading and is a great way to do two things at the same time. This script was intended to introduce or reinforce a lesson about energy. In the script, Bob slept through science class and wasn’t paying attention when they were talking about where energy came from. He thought he knew it all and that electricity was just lightning. Thankfully Mary, Lewis, and Nicole ask him to prove it. They find out what he doesn’t know and tell him all about natural resources. It takes a while to convince Bob that lightning is not a resource being used right now. When they finish Bob now knows that there are natural resources that can run out like coal, natural gas, and oil. He also knows there are renewable sources like wind, water, and solar energy. Lewis, Mary, and Nicole get Bob to agree that paying attention in science class is important and he will do better in the future.

There are two writing prompts for the students to do at the bottom of the last page. My 3rd graders were able to use this script but needed some vocabulary front loaded. Those words are on the cover page. I also added a section for your students to put words they need to understand or read better. I use reader's theaters to encourage my students to practice fluency. It is a fun way to do something that they need. Most of my scripts are in black and white so they photo copy easily and do not waste ink. The problem with many other reader's theaters is that students spend a lot of time waiting for their part. When you have a small group they get more practice and you get less off task behaviors.

My name is Melanie Whitesides but my store name is Wonbyone and I hope that your students enjoy this script as much as mine did. If you like this script look for more science related scripts at my store. Please let me know how things go!
