Review the different types of Figurative Language as you're reading Tim O'Brien's excellent short story about the Vietnam War. This activity starts with a matching exercise; it requires students to match the Figurative Language type to its definition. Then it has 22 examples taken from the text to identify, discuss and review.
This worksheet is an alternative version of my other product on this same short story. This version is intended for younger readers. It utilizes some of the same examples as the other version, but it has dropped the most difficult examples and it does not use synedoche.
This DOES NOT contain a copy of the story. It may be found online at numerous websites through a google search.
This is a 2-page worksheet and there is a 2 page answer key.
