This activity will help students learn about latitude and longitude using popular characters from "The Hunger Games" trilogy by Suzanne Collins. Students navigate through the story and use an atlas to pinpoint locations on their map. As an extension activity, they can write their own location story using characters and locations of their choosing. I usually have students trade and complete each others' stories, which is a great cooperative learning activity which helps to showcase the writing talents of students in your class. This activity is a great way to support the ELA Common Core standards while also learning about latitude and longitude in a Geography course.
