Reinforce sight words, positional words, and writing a response with this fun and engaging emergent reader! My 12 page "Where is Groundhog?" mini book practices the sight words here, is, in, the and positional words on, in, under, in front of, behind, next to, above, below, beside, between, and over. The story features predictable text and shows the position of groundhogs in different settings. I have included two levels of writing practice. For beginning writers, a traceable sentence starter is included. Students will draw a picture of a groundhog in any setting and use positional words to write a sentence to match. More advanced writers will write a complete sentence to match their picture. I have also included two matching activities, where students will cut and paste positional words to match pictures. Full color positional words puzzle cards complete this set. There is one puzzle card for each word. It shows the word and two picture representations. These can be left whole and used as mini posters or cut and laminated for a center activity.
