This book designed by Heather Bates, SLP was created as a way to teach and reinforce basic spatial concepts that are taught as part of the Kindergarten Core Curriculum. The concepts that can be targeted include: at, on/off, in/out, behind/in front of, over/under, above/below, next to/between, around/through and beside. You can use all of these concepts in your book or only specific ones you are working on. Students must place and glue Santa in the given location on each page. For the concept “in”, I like to cut a slit in the top of the stocking and then slide Santa into the stocking (you can do this if you copy one sided but the pages also line up so you can copy the pages double sided as well to save on paper). Students may color the book when they are finished. Students will love the adorable graphics by www.mycutegraphics.com. They will also enjoy being able to “read” the book by stating where Santa is located in each picture. I have also included a colored copy of the book for a teacher resource or model.
