This is an activity to be used in the pocket chart to help with 2D and 3D shape recognition. It can be used whole group or with small groups. It can be played with just the 2D shapes, just the 3D shapes, or a combination of both.
When just using the 2D shapes, the 2D cards will be placed in the pocket chart. The baby hexagon will be placed behind one of the 2D shapes. Children will guess where the baby hexagon is by naming the shape they think it is behind. As they guess, the card will be pulled up to reveal if the baby is there or not. Play continues until the baby is found.
When playing with just the 3D shapes, the baby cone will be hidden.
When playing with both sets of shapes, you can hide one or the other babies or both.
This is such a simple game but they love it and get so excited. It is a great way to learn to identify shapes. You can also use these shape cards to compare shapes.
