This is a social story written for children who are anxious when separated from their teacher/adult caregiver. The story includes a "quick page" that contains the entire story on one single page. It also includes "I am Okay" visuals for the child to hold/repeat when feeling anxious-whether it's separation anxiety or another fear or stressor. The main story should be read to the child each day. It should be read with the child as you would read any story- during a relaxed, quiet time. The adult should encourage questions, point to illustrations, and support the child in "reading" the story himself. This is a great story to follow with role playing what happens when the adult leaves the room and how the child should respond.
