This is a great emergent reader that gives your kiddos the opportunity to practice their understanding of position words, or prepositional phrases, as well as, to practice reading the high frequency words (sight words) I, see, and the, and to practice their concepts of print.
Cut the pumpkin and the scarecrow out (or have your kiddos do it). The scarecrow will be glued to the scarecrow page, but only glue the bottom part (the hay) to the page, so your kiddos can put the pumpkin behind the scarecrow. You will tape or staple the pumpkin to a string or piece of yarn and then tape or staple the string to the top, inside cover of the book. As your kiddos read each page with position words on them, they will move the pumpkin to that location on each page. Have Fun!
