Are you looking for a hands-on lesson where students analyze where all the water on the earth is located? If so, this is the lesson for you!
In this hands-on lesson, students start off the lesson by doing a card sort to predict the amounts of water located at different places on the earth. Then, students use a gallon of water to measure out where all the water on the earth is located into labeled containers. The students answer questions on a worksheet and compare how much freshwater vs. saltwater is on the earth. This is a great activity for students to see that there is a limited amount of freshwater on the earth that is available for humans to use. Students are always shocked to see that most of the freshwater is frozen in icecaps and glaciers.
