Get your students picking up the book and finding evidence while accomplishing some kid-friendly test prep. These task cards make a great exit ticket for formative or summative assessment as your students read the novel.
Option 1: Use the task card before the lesson to build interest.
Want your students actively thinking throughout the lesson? Give them the task card that correlates with the day’s reading at the beginning of the lesson for them to “hunt” down the answer and evidence as you read for the day. Prepare for some excited hands and wiggly seats when they find it!
Option 2: Use the task card at the end of the lesson to assess.
Want to challenge your readers? Tell them their exit ticket will be one question about the day’s reading. Challenge them to actively think as they read to see who can answer the question knowing just where to look back for the answer.
Finished the Novel? Play the Greedy Monkeys Game!
After finishing the novel, use the whole set of task cards with the monkey cards to play a group game of 2-4 players.
