Where’s President Obama
An American Symbols Activity
This is a great way to teach and review the American Symbols. The American Symbol cards are placed in a pocket chart. President Obama is hidden behind one of the cards. Children guess where President Obama is by naming the symbol they think it is behind. I also have my children give a fact/information about the symbol. The child guessing will lift the card to see if President Obama is there. Play continues until President Obama is found. These picture cards can also be used as flashcards for a quick review.
This set includes pictures of the Statue of Liberty, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, the Pledge of Allegiance, “The Star Spangled Banner”, The White House, the Bald Eagle, the American Flag, the Liberty Bell, and Mt. Rushmore. I have included a picture of the Georgia flag because I am a Georgia teacher and it is one of our symbols. I have included a page with blank cards if you need your state flag or any other symbol. You could print a picture of what you need and glue it on a blank card. I have also included a different picture of the Lincoln Memorial, the White House, “The Star Spangled Banner”, and the Washington Monument. Just pick the one you like best. The Liberty Bell and Mt. Rushmore are at the end of this pack because Georgia doesn’t teach these symbols in kindergarten but I know some states do and other grades do. There are 2 patriotic children to hide behind the symbols to use once president Obama is out of office.
