It’s the busiest day of the year at the North Pole – Christmas Eve! Santa and the elves are busy packing up the sleigh to begin delivering toys and Mrs. Claus is making her delicious Christmas Eve supper. It’s time to get the reindeer ready to pull the sleigh. But someone is missing! It’s Rudolph! The elves frantically look for Rudolph all over the reindeer pen, but he is nowhere to be seen. This can’t be! Without Rudolph, the sleigh cannot fly and Christmas will be ruined!
Are you ready for the challenge?
Ready to take Christmas math to a whole new level? Your students are going to LOVE this Christmas-themed escape room-style activity where they will solve clues and work together as a team, ultimately finding Rudolph and saving Christmas.
Your students will be completing six different challenges (or clues) in order to find Rudolph. These challenges will be completed as a small group of about three to four people in order to encourage teamwork and cooperation.
When a team has solved a clue, one member will come to you with the answer and to get the next envelope.
The goal is for each group to complete the escape room, but it is motivating to have teams compete against each other to see who can solve it first.
This escape room does not involve expensive locks or lock boxes. It is easy to set up, and once it is prepared it will be ready to go for years to come! Each clue will be placed inside a manila envelope.

**NOTE: If you are doing this escape room with 2nd grade students, it may be a good idea to have a couple of additional helpers in the room. These helpers can help groups read the instructions and figure out how to complete each clue. If you do not have additional helpers, you might consider doing a quick overview of each clue before beginning the activity.**
