Product Description

More than 25 activities provided in 2 different formats: one for group discussions, one for individual use or math centres.

All within the strand of Geometry and Spatial Sense, including:

2D Shapes

3D Shapes

Symmetry

Don't underestimate the value of students learning from each other!

These "Which Doesn't Belong" images foster deep and meaningful discussions between students that level the playing field for all! All students can contribute to these activities in some way, shape, or form. Keep these discussions and centres open-ended, so that all answers are celebrated. In doing so, you will build students math understandings AND confidence.

These Which Doesn't Belong activities can be used in two ways:

1. Whole-Group Discussions

Post a large format page digitally or print it and post it on the board. Have students consider which image/number doesn't belong and provide reasoning why.

This activity fosters students:

-Math knowledge

-Math confidence

-Reasoning skills

-Communication skills

-Critical thinking

2. Individual or Small-Group Use

Print out the "written format" versions of these activities and have students complete them as handouts or in math centres. They could do this individually or in small groups! The "written format" versions provide space for students to write which images they believe doesn't belong and why.

If you like this product check out our other Which Doesn't Belong items, including Number Sense and Numeration (Place Value, Fractions, Operations, & Money).

Please note: this product is suitable for grades 1-4, but it is best that you are selective with which slides you use. Therefore, not all images will necessarily be useful for your grade, but some will be great:)
