This is a very successful and well-liked lesson that my students have had fun creating for many years. This is a creative drawing lesson that uses my "Art Magic Line Switch Creative Drawing Method". I took the time to explain the method very clearly, step by step, so anyone can easily understand my creative drawing method and how to teach this lesson.
I have written the steps to teach the lesson as a verbal script the teacher can follow if desired. Also included are 5 handouts to assist students in understanding and applying: the "6 Types of Lines", 3 Color Contrast Tricks so an image shows up clearly, Line Variety and Embellishments to add visual interest and a Color Scheme handout. The "Art Magic Line Switch Method" can be used by students to draw ANY shape or subject matter more creatively. It's a great method for art teachers to have when approaching drawing lessons. The method is easy for students to understand, use and remember. The "Line Switch Method" is a great way to teach drawing to young artists. I have had success with students 2nd grade and up. As a teacher, I have found that I can refer back to the "Line Switch Method" to help students draw more complex, realistic drawings later on in future Art classes. This common knowledge between the art students and teacher can be very helpful in class. Sometimes when students are "stuck" trying to draw a creative image or shape, I'll remind them how to use the "Line Switch Method". It really helps students to easily recall the method and it quickly assists them to move on to the next step. (For example, designing a creative shape for a mask, vase, cartoon caricature, etc). This 18 page lesson is part of my Art Magic Sequential Art Curriculum Plan for those of you that are following it.
