These adorable deer are a great introduction to drawing an animal and painting in tempera, while learning a little science.
After reading a story about the white-tailed deer and sharing fun facts, we do a simple directed line drawing. The children add a background and learn some techniques for painting in tempera. Then it’s total engagement while they just enjoy the process of painting.
Check out their beautiful work in the student gallery!
