PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

After reading the poetry of Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson and learning about free verse, parallel construction and cadence (Whitman) and slant rhyme, rhyme scheme and imagery (Dickinson), students prepare this final assessment.

Included is a handout detailing the project, where students write two poems: one in the style of Walt Whitman and include devices which we've discussed, and another in the style of Emily Dickinson doing the same. Final poems are annotated to show that student wrote with intention, and presented for the class.
