This packet provides 3 activities for young children, ages 4 - 7, to practice answering ‘who’ questions. Visual supports are provided on each card. They can also be used for targeting personal pronouns ‘he’ and ‘she’.
Print all pages on card stock for durability. The optional cover cards help to keep sets organized. There are no lines on the cover cards to ensure that both sides align accurately when printing. If using the cover cards, print: p. 2 on the back of pp. 3 - 12; p. 13 on the back of pp. 14 - 17; and p. 18 on the backs of pp. 19 - 21. Laminate and cut cards apart.
Students can point and/or use a verbal response.
Activity 1 (90 cards; Set A pp. 3 - 7; Set B pp. 8 - 12)) In these sets, a ‘who’ question is asked in a simple who + verb+ing/adjective structure. The answer is one of the two pictures shown.
Activity 2 (36 cards) In this set, a ‘who” question is asked about two children in the picture. Sentence complexity varies.
Activity 3 (27 cards) In this set, a statement is read which contains the information that is asked for in the subsequent ‘who’ question. Students need to have some prior knowledge of the information being elicited. a) If students do not have prior knowledge, the vocabulary can be pre-taught. and/or b) The adult then provides the answer verbally, then prompts the student's use of the vocabulary word.
