This is one of my favorite writing projects I have used with my 3rd graders! In this mini writing unit, students pretend to be a Halloween creature and write 2 paragraphs worth of spooktacular clues about themselves that will help the reader infer who they are. This project provides a great opportunity to discuss point-of-view, as the kiddos always love taking on the voice of their creature! Throughout this mini unit, students will also focus on main idea and details, adjectives and verbs, onomatopoeia, as well as revising and editing. Of course, what would complete a writing project without a craftivity at the end? There are directions on creating a haunted house to be displayed with your children's creative writing pieces. Enjoy!
