Chapter Summary and Independent Constructed Response for each chapter of Ron Roy's Who Cloned the President? - the first book in the Capital Mysteries series.
I use this as part of my book study with my 5th grade students who are reading this book. They read at a 2nd-3rd grade level, so this text provides them with the opportunity to engage meaningfully at their instructional level and complete grade-level tasks (summarizing, responding with evidence from the text).
This packet has a summary page for each chapter with three generic questions over the characters, setting, and basic plot, then a constructed response question for each specific chapter.
The summarizing questions can be done independently or as a group. The constructed response is intended to be done independently.
The final page is a rubric for grading the constructed response. One note - I do not include spelling as part of the constructed response grade, but it could be included as part of the capitalization/punctuation component.
