Who doesn't like a good murder mystery every now and then? This first edition, Who Did It? Murder Mystery combines reading, math, and writing in the context of a murder mystery.
Students read a prompt and witness statements sprinkled with clues. Then, they complete 10 multiple choice questions involving adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing fractions, and equivalent values. Each multiple choice answer has a clue attached. The correct answer will point students to a clue that will help put the pieces together for solving this case while the wrong answer will provide them an incorrect clue that could take them down the wrong path.
After all of the clues are collected, students must put together all of their information and write out who did it, the motive, and the entire scenario. Everything must be supported by the evidence provided.
This builds reading, writing, and math skills. Plus, students just stinking love these things and forget that they are learning! You can put students in partners and make this a competition, if you'd prefer.
Student's work page and teacher notes page with answer key and solved mystery included.
I hope to have bigger and better coming soon.
