This game is a lot like the game CLUE! Your students are Detectives on a mission to discover which Instrument of the Orchestra is the CRIMINAL... There is a front/back sheet with instructions that acts as the Detective's Journal. There are also 24 Instrument Suspect Playing Cards with a coversheet for the backs of the cards. Simply print out, cut and laminate. TO PLAY: Detectives (the students) use their Journal and a pencil to record their findings. At the start of the game, the teacher shuffles the 24 INSTRUMENT SUSPECT CARDS. Then, secretly chooses one card to be the CRIMINAL and conceals it in an envelope at their desk. The remaining 23 cards are then distributed evenly among the Detectives. These represent the INNOCENT SUSPECTS. (Any extra cards should be revealed to all Detectives at the start to record in their journals.) Do NOT show your card to the other Detectives just yet... They need to guess it first! The object of the game is to find out which is the CRIMINAL instrument by eliminating all the INNOCENT SUSPECTS. Write down the name of the innocent instrument suspect on your card inside your Journal in the gray boxes under its correct family. Then, meet with and “interview” the other Detectives. Figure out what instrument is on their card by asking them for a CLUE! They will read you the clue on their card. If you can guess their instrument correctly, they will show it to you. Keep track of which instruments are the INNOCENT SUSPECTS by writing them down under their correct family in the gray boxes inside your journal. Once you have interviewed all Detectives, and filled in all 23 INNOCENT SUSPECTS, you should only have one space left! Check your results against the pictures inside your Journal to figure out which instrument is missing. This missing instrument is the CRIMINAL! Write down the name of the CRIMINAL instrument and bring it to your teacher to see if you’ve solved the case!
