Product Description

In this activity groups of four will become members of SNCC and try to figure out, based on clues, who murdered Herbert Lee (a Civil Rights Activist of Amite County, Mississippi).

What teachers should do to do:

-Create a "confidential information" folder in which the answer or "Amite Police File" can be hidden in until the group has a guess to whom they think murdered Mr. Lee

-Cut out the clues into slips, evenly distributing the strips into different colored envelops for each of the four group members. (I folded construction paper in half and taped the ends to create an envelope) Tape or glue "FOR SNCC MEMBERS EYES ONLY" on the envelopes.

-You can read the background information or you can print a sheet for each group to read the information on their own.

-Facilitate discussion/debate.
