This student reader focuses on the most famous mascot of Valentine's Day... Cupid. In the text, children are introduced to the term "legend" and learn that Cupid's story has been told and enjoyed by many people for hundreds of years, although it can't be proved.
As the children continue to read, they discover that Cupid's goal is to help people find love and that caring people do nice things for one another. It's a great book to read with the children on Valentine's Day, or before your students exchange valentine cards with each other.
The following sight words are lighter than the regular text and can be traced for additional spelling practice, if desired:
in, we, very, day, of, the, you, your, had, for, but, like, likes, because, how, to, nice, them, could, or, out
In addition, the following words are underlined in the text to bring attention to new and/or important vocabulary words:
Assembly Note: After printing, cut the pages on the dotted line. The dotted line is not precisely in the middle of the paper... this allows a margin for stapling. There are 5 full pages. When cut in half, each student book is a total of 10 pages.
