I created this picturegraph, data chart and question activity for my third graders last year when I was having trouble finding anything that I quite liked anywhere else. My kids had a lot of fun with the activity. I found it helped them to understand that when we uses a key, one object does not have to represent one person. I also found it to be a great visual for my ESOL students. I have used this activity in both whole and small group. This activity covers a third grade standard in its entirety as well as a second grade one.
