This is a primary source card style game that uses actual quotes along with hypothetical quotes from Federalists and Anti-Federalists.
Each card has a quote on it and students are asked to analyze the quote and determine if the quote was said by a Federalist or an Anti-Federalist. There are 18 cards. I have uploaded this as a word document so you can change and edit things to make it fit for your students.
Possible Game Ideas:
• Use the cards for a one-on-one lightning style much like Family Feud where the winning team then gets a chance to answer “Who Said That” until they get one wrong allowing the other team to steal that answer and point.
• Use the cards as a matching game where you have all the Federalists put together and all the Anti-federalists put together. Or match up a Federalist card with an Anti-Federalist card. Add a time element for more fun.
• Use it like a rummy card game. Each player must have a hand of 3 cards in which all of the quotes are either Federalists or Anti-federalists. You can also change it up where they need 2 Federalists cards and 1 Anti-federalist and so on.
• Basic read aloud and answer. Each person draws a card and takes turns reading the quote from their card. Each player records whether that quote was said by a Federalist or an Anti-Federalist and why they believe that on a separate sheet. After every player has read their quote all cards are put back in the deck and a second round is conducted. The players with the most correct responses win.
For some reason the thumbnails' margins are off. Once downloaded the margins should be correct.
