This is designated for a high school biology class. It is a lab that should take around 90 minutes. It can be split in to two class periods if necessary. The goal of the lab is for students to investigate organic compounds, specifically lipids, carbohydrates (glucose and starch) and proteins. Students use the tests for organic compounds to discover what type of organic compound is present in the 5 different foods. Then, they can use their knowledge to discover what the unknown is. The unknown is what was left behind by the culprit. The lab contains pre-lab questions as well as post lab.
