After reading "Jack and the Beanstalk," students can play a fun and familiar game and complete a page for a class book titled, "Who Took the Golden Egg from the Giant's House?"
The game is patterned just like "Who Took the Cookies from the Cookie Jar?" Children all sit in a circle with their eyes closed. Pick a student to hide the golden egg. He or she places the golden egg behind someone's back. Then everyone sits up and claps and chants: Who took the golden egg from the giant's house? Go around taking turns naming people and they answer with, "Who me?" Class: "Yes you!" Child: "Couldn't be!" Class: "Then who?" Go around until the egg is found!
End the song with the last page of the class book when "Jack" admits to taking the golden egg!
The class book page can either be completed by students drawing a picture of themselves holding the egg or a picture of the giant's house or teachers can take a picture of each child holding a large golden egg or a basket full of golden eggs. Students write their name on the top line.
This game and class book ties very nicely into our unit of study on Plants!
