Captured by Irish pirates? Sold into slavery? Forced to tend sheep? Finally escapes after six long years? That's Patrick's story!
Teach young children about the man behind the holiday with this "Beginning Biography." It's best suited for grades K-2 and includes:
A Student Booklet
A 6-page booklet has been provided with informational text and bold key vocabulary words.
Step-by-Step Directions for the Directed Drawing
The cover provides an opportunity for the children to draw St. Patrick. I have included step-by-step directions showing you how to direct your students in completing his picture.
Opportunities to Illustrate
The text on these pages includes vivid imagery and key vocabulary. This is a great opportunity for children to make inferences and visualize scenes. For this reason, the pages do not include illustrations so the students can create their own pictures to match the text on each page. It's a great way to personalize the book and construct meaning.
A Comprehension Check
I have also included a comprehension piece that can be used as an informal assessment, if desired. It allows for literal and critical thinking with questions covering recall, inferencing, stating opinions, and understanding key vocabulary.
