Do your students love the Who Would Win books by Jerry Pallotta? This activity is modeled after those books.
This writing activity is a combination of research and opinion writing.
Students start by choosing 2 animals to research. A list of ideas is included. (You will need to have some non-fictions books or websites available for students to use.)
Next, students find out important features of the animals by reading and noting important features on the bubble map. This allows students to compare and contrast important features of the animals. The map is used to plan an opinion piece about who would win in a confrontation. A lively sharing session is sure to follow!
An example of the map and finished product are included.
